There is a bicycle myth that needs to be busted: bicycle lanes are bad for business.
People who ride bicycles are gainfully employed just like car drivers, except we don’t pay for petrol, parking, servicing, insurance or registration.
That’s an annual saving of a seriously large amount of money.
However, it seems to come as a surprise to some shop owners that we bicycle babes also like to buy stuff, and not just bicycle stuff.

For a long forgotten, and clearly not good enough, reason I caught the train home last week.
Although this used to be a regular event, having not ventured there for about 3 years you forget what it’s like, and so last week’s foray was a serious shock to the system.
Firstly train travelers I have a question: you let someone else decided when you leave and arrive, and which route you take?

As if that wasn’t frustrating and demeaning enough, it turns out wasting my precious time waiting on the train was the least of my worries.
Iron Boost: Beef, Bell Pepper & Papaya
Bicycle babes use A LOT of energy, not because we work up a sweat, just because our legs are always in motion which means always having lots of oxygen-carrying iron in our bloodstream is essential.
However, getting enough iron can be tricky if you don’t pair it with the right vegetables, iron is only absored when Vitamin C is available.
This Thai-style beef salad is an iron and vitamin C bonanza, eat it mid week to boost your energy.
Ingredients:

On a bicycle you can’t help but notice how beautiful it is to travel guided by the light of stars.
With an iron roof overhead you don’t get to see, never mind experience, the peace and calm of the night and stars.
How is it that we’ve managed to loose sight of the fact that the stars are there to guide us, and indeed used to guide us, so much so that we created whole myths and legends around them as we followed them.

Raw Food: Fig, Flax & Cabbage Salad
This raw food salad is not for the faint hearted, it will make you feel amazing.
Make it for lunch or a light dinner, either way it will fuel the bicycle fun!
Ingredients:
2 fresh figs diced.
1 x med/lrg carrot grated.
1 cup of white cabbage finely sliced.
Handful of dill finely chopped.
Handful of basil finely chopped.
Handful of mint finely chopped.
Dressing:
2 tablespoons flaxseed oil (olive, avocado or macadamia oil will substitute).
Generous pinch of salt
1 teaspoon cracked pepper.
Raw Food Recipe: Strawberry Spinach!
With either your first or your last punnet of summer strawberries do this!
It’s a nutrient rich, tasty raw-food afternoon treat for bicycle babes on the go.
Ingredient:
1/2 punnet of strawberries quartered.
1 x small Lebanese cucumber halved & sliced.
1 x generous handful of fresh baby spinach, finely sliced.
Dressing:
1/4 orange.
Flat teaspoon honey.
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar.
A tablespoon of olive, avocado or macadamia oil can be added to fill you fuller!
Directions:
